Craig briefs: Summer reading program is June 4

Beginning June 4 and running through July 29, the Moffat County Libraries story times will be at 11 a.m. at the Moffat County Fairgrounds covered picnic area.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a lunch, sunscreen and a hat. In the case of inclement weather, call the library before 10:30 a.m. to learn whether story time has been canceled.

Health & Fitness offers youth boxing program

A new boxing program is beginning for youths ages 10 to 17. Holistic Health & Fitness, 420 Breeze St., will host an orientation for its youth boxing program at 7 p.m. June 5 at the fitness center. Parents need to attend the orientation if they would like their children to participate. For more information, call Karrie Booth at 824-4700.

VNA offering school-required vaccinations

Parents, now is the time to take a look at school immunization requirements and recommendations, according to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association.

Some colleges require the meningococcal vaccine for entering freshmen. Other recommended vaccines include Hepatitis A and HPV (females only).

Other school requirements for fall 2009 are as follows: Tdap for students entering sixth and 10th grades and for students who did not previously receive a Tdap in seventh, eighth, 11th or 12th grade. DTaP, Polio, MMR and Varicella (chicken pox) are required for students entering kindergarten (additional immunizations may be required if your child is not up to date).

VNA provides immunizations for children from no charge to $14; the VNA never will refuse a vaccination to a child because of an inability to pay. For more information call 824-8233.

To all Moffat County vendors: new bid system

Moffat County is implementing an online bid system.

The new bid system will allow registered vendors to receive electronic notification of all Moffat County bids.

All interested vendors will need to register here.

Registering is a two-step process that may take one or two days. County officials ask that vendors be registered by June 30.

After you register with Public Purchase, you will receive a conformation e-mail with instructions for registering with Moffat County.

Please be sure and pick all of your company’s classifications codes, as this is how your company is matched with the active bids.

If you have questions, call Moffat County administration at 970-824-9140. The new bid system will be active July 1.
