Power outage hits Craig, Hayden on Saturday
Craig and Hayden experienced a nearly one-and-a-half hour power outage Saturday afternoon, according to Yampa Valley Electric Association spokeswoman Tammi McKenzie.
Power was cut off for 7,850 meters after an equipment failure at the Thompson Hill substation south of Craig around 2:41 p.m. Power was restored one hour and 22 minutes later.
“It wasn’t anticipated, there wasn’t really anything we could have done different. Equipment failed, and that just happens,” McKenzie said.
McKenzie said all of YVEA’s equipment is routinely inspected and maintained.

Colorado gas prices dip nearly 7 cents per gallon
Average retail gasoline prices in Colorado have fallen 6.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.39 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,158 gas outlets in Colorado. That compares with the national average that has increased 0.5 cents per gallon in the past week to $2.29 per gallon, according to gasoline price website gasbuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Colorado during the past week, prices Sunday were 101.4 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 31.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 11.4 cents per gallon during the past month and stands 99.5 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
“Overall, the national average price of gas since last week remains virtually unchanged. While Great Lakes states saw prices climb last week, western states saw sharp declines from deep discounts in wholesale fuel prices … bringing California, Washington and Oregon prices down more than 35 cents lower than where they stood a month ago. Opening this week, Pacific Northwest wholesale gasoline prices are among the lowest in the U.S. and that is truly a rarity,” Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, said in a statement.“While the rate of decline has slowed, we still expect the overall decline to continue this week with a nominal decrease in retail gasoline in most parts of the country.”

McDonald’s announces all-day breakfast
Colorado area McDonald’s invite customers to experience breakfast all day. All Day Breakfast is the number-one request from customers. In fact, more than 120,000 people tweeted McDonald’s asking for breakfast throughout the day in the past year alone. On Wednesday, Oct. 7, participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout the state will initiate a statewide PJ Day, where anyone who comes into a McDonald’s wearing their PJs will receive a free Egg McMuffin (rules and conditions apply: 5 a.m. to midnight offer, shirts and shoes required).
“All Day Breakfast is something our customers have been asking for and we’re excited to begin offering it,” Jay McAvoy, Colorado McDonald’s Co-op president, said.
