Craig briefs: Parrotheads host fall art, music fest
The Northwest Colorado Chapter of Parrotheads is hosting “Art in the Parking Lot” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in the parking lot at Victory Way and Tucker Street, west of JW Snacks.
The fall festival will showcase the work of local artists and include a beer garden, food vendors, live entertainment, silent auction and other activities. The event is a fundraiser for the Parrotheads and all proceeds willo be used to support music programs in local schools and various environmental and river projects.

Chili dinner benefit for Christian school
A chili dinner, which will benefit Eagle’s Wings Christian School, will be at noon today at Loudy-Simpson Park. Donations are accepted. For more information, call Shamblee Fisher at 824-8282, ext. 24.
Elkhead Reservoir releases new hours
Beginning Oct. 1, Elkhead Reservoir will be open weekends only, staff and weather permitting.
The reservoir will be closed to boating for the season Oct. 25. The park will remain open for hunting, fishing and hiking only.

Auction to raise money for student
An auction Oct. 17 at the OP Bar & Grill will benefit Cory Pike, a 2007 Moffat County High School graduate and a Colorado State University student. Pike was diagnosed June 10 with Burkitt’s lymphoma.
The auction starts at 1 p.m. Local businesses have donated some “great items,” auction organizers reported in a news release, and there also will be a raffle drawing during the event.

Support group’s 1st meeting set Oct. 19
The first meeting of a new peer support group for people with bipolar disorder and depression is scheduled from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Gold Room at the Northwest Colorado Community Health Center, 745 Russell St. Call Barb Parnell at 871-7655.
