Craig briefs: Parks and Rec seeks grant money for park

Dave Pike, director of Craig Parks and Recreation, is working on a project that drastically would change the look of Breeze Park. Pike wants to bring in new handicap-accessible play equipment, a gazebo and overall beautification. The project would cost about $330,000, and about $215,000 would need to come from grant money. The Craig City Council opted to support Pike through the Great Outdoors Colorado grant process. Pike has applied twice for a GOCO grant for the park, but was turned down. One of the reasons he was denied was because there hadn’t been enough community support, he said. This time around, he feels confident. “Third time’s the charm,” Pike said.
