Maybell seniors to host chili supper today
Maybell seniors will host their annual chili supper for hunters at 5 p.m. today at the Maybell Community Center. Homemade chili, crackers, beverages and homemade pie will be served. Participants can eat in or take out for $7 per person.
For the past 17 years, the seniors have hosted a chili dinner for hunters visiting the Maybell area for the two big combined hunting seasons.
The suppers are held on the Friday evening before the opening day. Large roasters full of homemade chili, big pots of coffee, pitchers of iced tea and a multitude of delicious, homemade pies await the hungry hunters and their families. It has become a tradition for many of the out-of-state hunters who camp in the Maybell area. Many locals enjoy the suppers as well. This year, the suppers will be held today and Oct. 30. The event begins at 5 p.m. and lasts as long as people are present.
