Craig briefs: Humane Society offers low-cost clinic

Daily Press staff

The Humane Society of Moffat County, in cooperation with two local veterinarians, is offering a low cost spay/neuter clinic.

The cost is $30 per animal and that includes vaccinations if they are needed, and the Humane Society will pay the remainder of the surgery cost.

To participate in the clinic, you must be a Moffat County resident.

Space in the clinic is limited, and animals will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis, limit two per household.

To sign up, visit the Craig Veterinary Hospital or Bear Creek Animal Hospital, fill out a short form, pay the $30 fee, and set up the surgery appointment. No phone calls to reserve a spot will be accepted because you must pay the $30 when you schedule the surgery.

Donations to the Humane Society of Moffat County are being accepted. The donations will make another spay/neuter clinic possible.

Donations may be sent to: HSMC, P.O. Box 1587, Craig, CO 81626. People donating should designate the funds for the spay/neuter clinic.

Organizers: Blood donor saves 3 lives

The Craig Community Blood Drive is scheduled to take place from 12:30 to 6 p.m. today at the Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.

One blood donation, organizers said, can save as many as three lives. Organizers advise anyone who is going to donate to eat a full meal and drink plenty of water beforehand.
