Craig Briefs: Free sign language class starts today
Free adult sign language classes are being offered beginning today.
The first class is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave.
The textbook, “Learning American Sign Language” by Tom Humphries and Carol Padden, can be purchased at Colorado Northwestern Community College, 50 College Drive.

MCHS hosting financial aid meeting today
There will be a senior parent meeting today at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane, to discuss the financial aid process and local scholarships.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the high school library.

Reunion for MCHS students and staff tentatively scheduled for summer
A reunion is being planned for this summer for Moffat County High School students and staff of the 1980s.
The MoCoHi Mixed Class Reunion is tentatively scheduled for June or July in Craig. Details of the event are still being finalized.

Literacy Carnival set for Jan. 20
The ninth annual Literacy Carnival for all elementary school-aged children is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Sunset Elementary School, 800 W. Seventh St.
The event includes games involving reading and writing plus prizes. Children can take a book or two to trade.
The carnival is open to children in preschool through fifth grade accompanied by an adult.
The carnival is sponsored by the Sagebrush Reading Council, Colorado Northwestern Community College and a Moffat County School District literacy grant.

Avalanche awareness sessions slated for Friday
Colorado State Parks, in conjunction with the Northwest Colorado Snowmobile Club, will host free avalanche awareness sessions Friday in the auditorium at Moffat County High School.
The sessions are scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m.
A field session will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Black Mountain, and will leave from the Freeman Reservoir parking lot. Courtesy sound checks on snowmobiles will take place at the Freeman parking lot that morning.
