Church to host fundraiser Oct. 12
Craig Christian Church, formerly known as First Christian Church, is scheduled to host a pet costume contest at 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at the church, 960 W. Victory Way. The event, The Puss and Pup Pet Pageant, is a fundraiser for The Puppet People, a ministry of Craig Christian Church.
No registration is required for the event. Entry costs $5 per pet. Only cats and dogs will be allowed.
Prizes will be awarded for best character, best formal wear, ugliest costume, most-like-owner costume, most colorful costume, most creative costume and the best overall costume. Prizes include restaurant gift certificates and pet treats. For more information, call Andrea Buzzell at 714-745-6718.
Daily Press editorial board seeks members
The Craig Daily Press is seeking three to four people to participate on its next editorial board, which begins Oct 1.
Editorial board members meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays to discuss the paper’s opinion pieces for the following Wednesday and Saturday papers. Editorial board terms last three months.

Women’s Club to honor long-time residents
The Maybell Women’s Club will host an Appreciation Day at 3 p.m. Sunday in Maybell Park in honor of Paul and Rosemary Hertzog.
“Please bring a covered dish and join the community in honoring these long-time community members for all they have volunteered to this community for so many years,” the club said in a news release.
Meat, drinks and table service will be provided.

Love INC sponsoring Community Coat Drive
Love INC is conducting its annual Community Coat Drive Sept. 15 through Oct. 11.
Last year, the organization distributed more than 500 coats, plus mittens, gloves and hats at sites in Hayden, Meeker, Rangely, Dinosaur, Oak Creek, Steamboat Springs and Craig.
“Gently-used” coats, hats and gloves or other winter outerwear may be donated at Love INC, 656 School St., during regular office hours, or they can be taken directly to Loyd’s Cleaners, 552 Breeze St., the primary collection point.
The coats are donated to “anyone in the Yampa Valley who needs a coat,” a Love INC news release reported.

Sheep Wagon Days take place Oct. 2 to 5
The 10th annual Craig Sheep Wagon Days has been scheduled for Oct. 2 to 5, with events happening at the Wyman Museum, east of Craig.
Celebrate the area’s sheep ranching heritage with sheep shearing and working dog demonstrations, hands-on educational booths, tours of sheep wagons, free concerts, food and craft vendors, “Fall Flavors” pie contest, reenactments, flap jack feed and lamb festival lunch both days and more.
