The 10th annual Craig Sheep Wagon Days has been scheduled for Oct. 2 to 5, with events happening at the Wyman Museum, east of Craig.
Celebrate the area’s sheep ranching heritage with sheep shearing and working dog demonstrations, hands-on educational booths, tours of sheep wagons, free concerts, food and craft vendors, “Fall Flavors” pie contest, reenactments, flap jack feed, lamb festival lunch and more.

Reduced-cost prostate screenings scheduled
The Prostate Cancer Education Council is coordinating free and reduced-price prostate screenings in six Colorado locations. The screenings are part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, which began Sunday and will continue through Saturday.
Screenings take about 10 minutes, and patients can choose to have their cholesterol and testosterone levels checked during the examination.

CDE meets Thursday in Steamboat Springs
The Colorado Department of Education will host a meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Steamboat Springs High School, 45 Maple St., to gather ideas about upgrades to the Colorado Model Content Standards. Community members, parents, teachers and students are welcome to attend. Attendees will review proposed definitions of four main areas: 21st-century skills, school readiness, post-secondary readiness and workforce readiness. The meeting is one of 13 gatherings the CDE will host across the state in preparation to modernize the content standards, which determine what students should learn in various subjects at each grade level. Local Talent Concert auditions are Oct. 11
The Craig Concert Association will host tryouts for the Local Talent Concert on Oct. 11.
All local musicians, singers and dancers are welcome to audition for the Jan. 31, 2009, show. The tryouts will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Moffat County High School Auditorium on a first-come, first-served basis. The tryout should be between three and five minutes long.
If you are unable to attend, submit a tape or CD of your audition prior to the date.
