Safeway offering year of free groceries
Safeway is sponsoring a contest to giveaway free groceries for a year to celebrate the produce and livestock of Colorado.
“We are excited to partner with Safeway to promote local products,” said John R. Stulp, commissioner of the Colorado Department of Agriculture. “Everyone can help support Colorado agriculture throughout the year by buying products with the Colorado Proud logo and the ‘Better for you. Better for Colorado’ tag line.”
For complete rules and to enter the contest, visit http://www.9news.com and click on the Colorado Proud logo. Twelve $100 Safeway gift cards will be awarded July through October with the grand prize winner receiving a year’s supply of groceries at Safeway (valued at $5,200). In addition to the contest, consumers can find recipes, produce picking tips, a crop calendar and a searchable Colorado products directory online.
Children may need immunization updates
Immunization requirements have changed and children may need shots before the next school year, the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association reports.

Shots are free for children 5 and younger and free to $14 for children older than 5. No appointments are necessary, but all children must be accompanied by an adult and have a shot record. A Spanish interpreter will be available.
The VNA offers immunization clinics every week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Call the VNA at 824-8233 with any questions or to make an appointment.
