Craig briefs for Dec. 8

The supply of child-sized coats from the Community Coat Drive nearly has been exhausted. The Family Dollar store in Craig is collecting more donations of these coats, hats and gloves for distribution by Love INC of the Yampa Valley.
New or gently used children’s coats, hats and gloves can be dropped off form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Family Dollar, 475 Green St., in Craig, or at the Love INC Resource Center, 656 School St.
These coats, along with already-collected adult-sized coats will be distributed after Wednesday, with the location soon to be announced. Anyone who needs a coat may pick up a free one regardless of income.
The only rule is one coat per person per year. Parents may pick up coats for their children.

U.S. Post Office holiday mailing deadlines
The deadline has passed to mail holiday cards, letters and packages to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to ensure delivery by Christmas. However, holiday mail going to other overseas military locations should be sent by Thursday. Express Mail is available for sending to most overseas military destinations until Dec. 18.

All packages and mail must be addressed to individual service members by name, in accordance with U.S. Dept. of Defense regulations.
The general deadline is Thursday to send holiday letters and packages to most other international countries, including Mexico, Canada, Europe and to Asia/the Pacific Rim.
Customers still can mail to most international countries until Dec. 19 using Express Mail.
As for domestic deadlines and using regular mail, send holiday cards, letters and packages going to U.S. destinations out-of-state by Saturday, Dec. 20; and in-state by Monday, Dec. 22, for delivery by Christmas. Using Express Mail, people may mail packages to certain U.S. locations until Dec. 23.
