Do teens text and drive?

In a recent national survey conducted by AAA, 46 percent of teens admitted to text messaging while driving, and 51 percent admitted to talking on their cell phone while driving.

But what about Colorado?

AAA Colorado hopes to find out with a new anonymous online survey that it is sponsoring with the Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Transportation and the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association.

“The more teen drivers who take this survey, the more accurate a picture we will get of teen driving behaviors,” said Wave Dreher, AAA Colorado’s traffic safety specialist. “This will help teen advocates better fashion more targeted, effective educational messages about driving safety.”

Survey participants who register can win a new Dell XPS laptop computer and 100 registered survey participants will randomly be chosen to receive a $10 gift certificate provided by Beau Jo’s Colorado Style Pizza.

The online survey can be found at http://www.aaa.com/teens until Sept. 21. Visit the same site for more information.
