Craig briefs: Crabfest 2009 tickets now are being sold

Crabfest 2009, an event sponsored and hosted by the Craig Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.

The event includes a “generous” serving of king crab legs, red potatoes, corn on the cob and herb and cheese biscuits, followed by a “mouth-watering dessert” buffet, the Chamber reported in a news release.

R&R Catering is preparing the dinner. There also will be a cash bar and a live and silent auction. To top off the night, comedian Troy Baxley will perform.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Entertainment begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each. Tables of eight cost $350 and tables of 10 are $450. Each table receives a complimentary bottle of wine.

Alpha Tau Chapter observing ESA week

The Alpha Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will observe Saturday the Colorado Epsilon Sigma Alpha Week, which begins today.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha is a women’s philanthropic organization, and the local chapter is designed to provide service and assistance to local community efforts.

VNA offering free breathing screenings

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association now is offering free breathing screenings and asthma education during the 2009-10 school year for school-aged children in Moffat, Routt and Jackson counties.
