Craig briefs: Construction on road to Elkhead Reservoir
The Routt County Road and Bridge Department plans to begin repair and construction work Monday on a damaged portion of the road to Elkhead Reservoir.
More than 50 feet of Routt County Road 86, which starts where Moffat County Road 29 ends at the county line, fell off the eastern embankment earlier this year.
Paul Draper, Routt County road and bridge director, said crews from Grand Junction-based GeoStabilization will have to close the road entirely during some of the first two weeks of repairs, after which there shouldn’t be any more complete closures.
The road will be open without delays from 7 to 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m. every Monday through Friday, as well as on weekends.
During weekdays, crews will need to close both lanes for brief stretches but will pause from time to time to let traffic through.
Draper said delays should not exceed 40 minutes.
Early library closures planned for Thursday
The Moffat County Libraries will close early Thursday. The Craig branch will close at 5 p.m. and the Maybell branch will close at 4 p.m., library officials reported.
