Colorado artists featured in Wild Horse art show

The seventh annual Wild Horse and Western Art Show and Sale will take place July 10 and 11 at the SCM Parish Center, 624 Bridger Ave., in Rock Springs, Wyo.

The Wild Horse and Western Art Show and Sale aspires to help “preserve our Western heritage by exposing the public to fine art images of the history and nature of the West,” according to a news release from event organizers.

This is accomplished by providing an opportunity for artists to showcase their works to the public, and for the public to purchase those works.

This year, 33 artists were juried into the competition, which is a third more than past years. Artists are from the Rocky Mountain region, and as far away as Virginia, Florida and California.

The opening reception and awards presentations will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. July 10. Tickets are available at the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, Community Fine Arts Center, and High Desert Art Galleries.

The show continues at 9 a.m. July 11 with the competition exhibition and the artist booths available to see throughout the day until 6 p.m. Admission on Saturday is free.

Started in 2003, the art show was organized as part of the Wild Horse and Burro Show sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management, and the Sweetwater Events Complex.
