Couple checks into jail after attempt to steal hotel decorations: On the Record — Aug. 7, 2018

6:40 a.m. On the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue, officers with the Craig Police Department responded to a reported burglary. When officers arrived, they saw no evidence of a burglary.
10:53 a.m. At a business on the 2000 block of Victory Way, a person was issued a city citation for shoplifting.
11:14 a.m. On the 600 block of Pershing Street, a caller reported a possible burglary. When officers arrived to investigate, they spoke with the landlord and tenant and determined it was a civil dispute.
12:09 p.m. On the 800 block of Ashley Road, a caller reported a lawn was damaged by spray from a fire extinguisher. Officers determined it was criminal mischief.

3:24 p.m. At a business on the 2000 block of Victory Way, a caller reported finding a zip-lock bag with white powder in it. After officers studied the powder, they determined it was vitamin supplement ground into powder form. The officers disposed of the substance.
4:38 p.m. On the 400 block of Fourth Street, officers served an arrest warrant on a 22-year-old Craig man for a failure to appear charge.
7:55 p.m. At the intersection of Sixth and Stout streets, officers stopped a vehicle after spotting a loose spare tire on the side of the vehicle.
9:10 p.m. On the 800 block of First Street, officers served an arrest warrant on a 33-year old Craig man.
9:38 p.m. On a hotel on the 300 block of Cedar Court, a caller reported a man and woman attempting to steal decorative items from the hotel lobby. The couple was arrested, and the estimated value of the property they allegedly attempted to steal was between $50 and $300.
