A certain Northwest Colorado couple gives a whole new meaning to back-to-back titles.

Amanda and Jason Back were on top of the world over the past weekend as the two of them claimed the Ladies and Men’s Club Championships at Yampa Valley Golf Course.

Amanda finished the two-day event with a 72 and a 75 for a 147, the lowest gross score of both the men’s and women’s flights, eight strokes ahead of Jason, who shot a 75 Saturday and finished with an 80 Sunday.

Though the second day wasn’t his best, he was still pleased with his wife’s outcome.

“She won the whole thing,” he said happily.

Amanda was especially happy to shoot par for the opening round.

“That’s the best I’ve ever shot here, I usually just shoot high 70s,” she said. “Everything just fell into place, it was my weekend, you know?”

Amanda has been around golf most of her life, while her spouse has an even greater level of familiarity with the game.

Jason formerly served as YVGC’s club pro for three years, and though he took a hiatus from the sport, getting back into the swing of things has been enjoyable.

“It’s nice to be on the other side of it now,” he laughed.

Though both skilled, the Backs are sticking with a relaxed approach to golf, regularly attending couples events, like the upcoming No Down, Low Down Showdown in September, as well as the TGIF series hosted at the course, with several more installments scheduled for this season.

“It’s always a lot of fun,” Amanda said.
