Community college advisory council to elect new chairs
Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) will hold the second regular session of its Advisory Council at 7 p.m. Monday. Highlights of the meeting will include an election of a new chairman and vice chairman of the Advisory Council.
The Advisory Council oversees the CNCC collegiate system. The CNCC-Craig Board of Control is responsible for the current mill levy that supports the local school.
Discussion items of the meeting, being held at Holiday Inn in Craig, include an update on the transition of CNCC into the state system. In July, CNCC joined the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System (CCCOES) as the 14th college in the state. CCCOES is one of the largest and fastest growing higher education systems in the state.
Status of the 1998-99 audit, a transfer of assets, process and controlled maintenance projects will also be discussed by the Advisory Council.
The Berry Bill (HB 1289) and effects of it will be discussed by the council and the CCCOES. An update will also be given by the CNCC Foundation Board, the status of position vacancies and a proposal of a joint meeting with CNCC and the Rangely School Board.
The next scheduled meetings for the Advisory Council will be held Feb. 14 and June 12.
Meetings are open to the public.
