CMS eighth-grade teachers: Exploring options

To the editor:

On April 29, eighth-grade boys from Craig Middle School explored career opportunities during a career day event.

They began the day with a presentation from Gene Bilodeau from Colorado Northwestern Community College. The morning was spent with instructors Christine Adams, power plant technology; Rick Meserve, Neenan Archistruction; Matt Beckett, firefighting; and Joe Sears and Julie Paulson, police academy.

Later, students made on-site visits to Trapper Mine and the Hayden power plant. Jeanine Vallejos, of Trapper Mine, and Alman Nicodemus, of the Hayden Station, with Brett Shellhorn, Mike Clifford, Glenn Jones were quality presenters and guides for the event.

Each of these activities enriched the boys’ experiences and offered wonderful community role models for our students. Our Craig Kiwanis Club provided all the food and supplies for a barbecue, a very appreciated perk on a great day.

The eighth-grade teachers and the boys thank all of you for your time, effort, contribution and support of Craig Middle School.
