Clifford C. Ellender: 1927-2005

Clifford Calvin Ellender of Craig died Nov. 4, 2005, at the Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehab Center in Craig. He was 78.

Ellender was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Lake Charles, La., to Clifford G. and Mae (Norwood) Ellender.

He was raised and attended school in Lake Charles. He left high school after the 11th grade and joined the U.S. Navy. Ellender married Joyce Richard in 1947 in Lake Charles, and they made their home there and in Carylss, La. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co as a ship and barge loader for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping and working in his garden. He moved to Craig six years ago following the death of his wife.



Ellender is survived by his daughter, Joy (Gabe) Daigle of Craig; son, Calvin S. Ellender of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren Julie (Dewey) Whitecotton of Hayden, and Will (Ashley) Daigle of Craig; and great-grandchildren Aaron, Isaac, Samuel and Anna.

Ellender was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Joyce.



Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Louisiana.
