In the Nov. 8 edition of the Saturday Morning Press, the Craig Daily Press incorrectly stated that CASA volunteers work with children during cases of abuse, neglect, guardianship or custody. CASA works on only abuse and neglect cases, but not guardianship or custody cases.
Volunteers also do not write plans to help families during court cases; the Colorado Department of Human Services writes the plan.
Volunteers also do not serve as mediators between judges and other parties in court cases. CASA volunteers are primarily responsible for providing support for children involved in abuse or neglect cases.
