An elderly woman crashed her station wagon into Craig City Hall Monday afternoon.

She didn’t suffer any injuries from the crash but her vehicle was wedged into the entryway of the building. The crash took out the front door completely.

Sgt. John Forgay, of the Craig Police Department, said she was suffering from medical issues that may have launched the crash.

Craig Fire/Rescue Chief KC Hume was confident the building didn’t suffer extensive structural damage.

“It doesn’t appear there is any structural compromise,” he said.

Because the driver sustained no injuries, she was not transported to the hospital.

Craig City Manager Jim Ferree said the preliminary estimate on the door is about $5,000.

Since the car wrecked only the outer door, the damage hasn’t posed a huge challenge to city employees. The inner door is still functional, but the vestibule is open to the cold air.

“It’s less efficient,” he said about the energy cost, but besides that, not terribly inconvenient.
