Capt. Brett Williams: Thanks for food donations
November 30, 2007
Craig — To the Editor:
I would like to take a moment to thank Ms. Diane Townes, Steamboat Meat and Seafood Company and Ms. Sherri Perez for their generous actions of processing and packaging donated meat for the family of Angel Figueroa. Mr. Figueroa regretfully lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 131, south of Steamboat Springs, on Aug. 23.
The stories that I have heard of Mr. Figueroa have painted him as a proud, hard working family man, who went to work daily to help provide for his family. After his passing, his family was suffering hardships from the loss of the main financial supporter, husband and father in their lives.
In this modern world, many in our society would think that we have lost compassion for our fellow man. The actions of Ms. Townes, Steamboat Meat and Seafood Company and Ms. Sherri Perez have shown that caring, compassion and empathy for a family they did not know is still alive and well.
I thank them on behalf of the Colorado State Patrol and our local communities for the generous donation and selfless act of kindness toward the Figueroa family.
Capt. Brett Williams
