Candidates have until Monday to turn in paperwork for Hayden races

Matt Stensland

— There are four positions up for election on the Hayden Town Board, and those interested in running have until 5 p.m. Monday to turn in their paperwork.

The seats up for election are those held by Mayor Jim Haskins and council members Lorraine Johnson, Tim Redmond and Dallas Robinson.

Everyone has committed to running for re-election, except for Robinson.

“He’s still undecided,” Hayden Town Clerk Sharon Johnson said.

As of Wednesday, no one was challenging the incumbent candidates.

People wanting to run need to specify whether they are running for mayor or a council member seat, Johnson said.

Those interested need to pick up a petition form at Hayden Town Hall during normal business hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.

To get on the ballot, candidates need to collect signatures from 25 registered Hayden voters. Those wanting to run for mayor need 30 signatures.

People wanting more information can call 970-276-3741.

The person who receives the most votes in the mayoral election will win.

The town council seats are at-large.

The three people who receive the most votes in the town council races will earn a seat on the board.
