Hello Moffat County voters, I am ready to get to work for you in the Colorado State Senate. You deserve a state senator who will focus on our community’s challenges and opportunities, put politics and ego aside, and strive for results that improve our region and improve people’s lives. I offer you just that.

I had the immense privilege of growing up in Northwest Colorado where I learned the value of community, hard work and public service. Now, my wife and I are raising our young son in the mountains and I hope to help build a mountain region and state for him and our future generations where everyone can live, work and thrive.

Since 2018, it has been an honor to serve as state representative. When I was first elected, I pledged that I would listen, take concerns to the Capitol, and always put results over politics. Much has changed since 2018, but that promise has not. As one of the most bipartisan and productive members in the Colorado legislature, I’ve written and passed bills to decrease the cost of housing and child care, protect our environment, help our local economies and small businesses, and make the cost of health care and prescription drugs more affordable.

While I am proud of the results achieved, there are more problems to solve and I am ready to do that work for you in the state senate.

Affordability

Too many Coloradans are being priced out of our communities. We must do more to help our communities build and maintain affordable housing for their locals. Since 2021, I have been chair of the Affordable Housing Task Force, which just delivered the largest single-year affordable housing investment in state history. Because of our work, Northwest Colorado will receive millions of dollars in funding to catalyze housing development projects next year. Moving forward, I will work to reduce legal and regulatory barriers to affordable housing development and find sustainable sources of funding so the state can continue solving for the housing crisis.

Health insurance and prescription drugs need to be more affordable. That’s why I wrote and passed a bill creating the Colorado Option health insurance plan — a new, more affordable plan available to individuals and businesses in every Colorado county that is already proving to work. Further, I took on Big Pharma, wrote and passed the first-in-the-nation bill capping the cost of insulin for every Coloradan.

Protecting Our Water & Environment

Our local economies depend on snow falling in the winter, rivers running in the summer and our cherished landscapes being protected for generations to come. Responding to the urgent threats of wildfire, drought and climate change will remain a top priority of mine. We need to continue leading the way in adopting policies that reduce pollution, improve our air and water quality, and enhance our economies through green energy.

Further, you can count on me to be a serious legislator for our precious water, which is under threat from Denver-area and out-of-state interests. I have worked with Republicans and Democrats to increase funding for our state’s water plan, stood up for farmers and ranchers, and crafted solutions that will protect our water future.

Strengthening Public Education & Rural Economies

Our public schools deserve increased support from the state legislature. Thankfully, we made historic investments in public education this year — and we cannot let up now.

Our mountain and rural economies deserve a problem-solver that will work with them as I have to strengthen our local economies, like the Rural Jump-Start program. We need to keep fighting for towns like Hayden and Craig to keep jobs right here. We can build a thriving small business economy that fosters business growth and creates good-paying jobs.

Protecting Personal Freedoms

State legislatures across the country now decide our personal freedoms. I am the only candidate in this race that will unequivocally support a woman’s right to reproductive health care without government interference. I will also stand up for our democracy against dangerous election conspiracy theories and intrusions on our electoral system.

Senate District 8 unites 10 counties that face varying challenges, but there is so much we can accomplish together. You deserve a credible problem-solver who consistently delivers for their constituents. That is my track-record and vision. It would be an honor to be your state senator and work for you, Moffat County. Please contact me anytime on my cell at 970-846-3054 and email at dylan@dylanroberts.org.
