The Craig Chamber of Commerce ambassadors will host a Chamber Mixer with Kitchen a la More. Come see the new shop downtown and enjoy food, beverages and prizes. Economic Development Summit to be hosted in Craig in September
The Economic Development Summit is returning to Craig for its third year.
The event, hosted by Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado, is set for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Clarion Inn & Suites, 300 S. Colo. 13.
The conference is designed for economic development professionals, elected officials, educators and business owners and will focus on current economic conditions and trends.
Presenters will include Brian Lewandowski, of the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business; Chris Aker, with the Colorado State Demography Office; and Stephanie Copeland, director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
Michelle Balleck, executive director of Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership, will serve on a panel of regional economic development professionals that will discuss communities overcoming challenges. Event topics will include entrepreneurship, coworking spaces, regional collaboration, coding school opportunities and hemp as an agricultural opportunity.
“The AGNC Economic Development Summit has been well-received over the last two years, and we hope it will continue to grow and expand,” AGNC board chairman and Moffat County Commissioner Ray Beck said. “We are very excited to have it in Craig this year. Local leaders, educators and businesses can find ideas and opportunities that can make a difference in their communities by attending this event. The content is informative, and the event is well worth attending.”
Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association and the Moffat County Local Marketing District are presenting sponsors of the event. Registration is open to anyone interested in economic development and diversification for the region.
The cost is $75 per person or $50 per person by Sept. 6.
Tri-State invites businesses to procurement event Sept. 13
Local business owners and managers are invited to attend a breakfast meeting, “How To Do Business with Tri-State,” slated for next week.
The event, hosted by Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. and Colowyo Coal Company, is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 a.m. Sept. 13 at Hampton Inn & Suites, 300 S. Colo. 13.
Attendees will join representatives from the two companies for a detailed presentation about procurement processes and how businesses become qualified vendors. All potential vendors are invited to attend, learn more about the requirements and network with company representatives.
“Despite Tri-State’s long and significant presence in the community, we understand that local businesses may not fully understand what’s involved in becoming an approved vendor for our company, or even how to explore the opportunities that exist to work with us across our 200,000-square mile service territory,” said Angela Torres, Tri-State’s senior manager of supply services. “We hope this discussion with local businesses is informative and helpful, and we look forward to engaging with them in an intimate setting.”
Craig Chamber of Commerce and Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership will co-sponsor the event.
“We heard from business clients through our office that they wanted to understand the process and requirements to do business with these pillars of our local economy,” said CMEDP Executive Director Michelle Balleck. “We are pleased, along with the Chamber of Commerce, to help bring this event to fruition to help our local businesses grow and expand to serve these industries. Local businesses patronizing local businesses is a key piece of our economic development strategy to strengthen and grow the Moffat County economy.”
