Bulldogs volleyball swept at Glenwood Springs

— Coach Sean Lively has said all season long that, with time and more experience, his Glenwood Springs volleyball team would come around.

In Saturday afternoon’s three-game sweep of visiting Moffat County, his Demons took another step in that direction.

Behind 11 kills from Kelly Lawson, 6 kills from Kenzi Caple and 18 team aces from the service line, Glenwood rolled to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 win against the visiting Bulldogs.

“We played outstanding,” lauded Lively, whose team is now 2-1 in the 4A Western Slope League and 3-5 overall. “We’ve worked really hard on our teamwork and playing point by point. Even in the third game when we were down 6-0, we kept our composure. That’s what we’ve been looking for. We’re starting to show up and play.”

Moffat County, on the other hand, still is finding its way. The Bulldogs returned just one player with substantial varsity experience to this season’s roster after losing seven seniors to graduation.

“Some days are good and some days are not as good,” Moffat County coach Brianna Montgomery said. “Today was one of our weaker days. I guess you just have that with inexperience.”
