Bulldogs lose in blowout
Montezuma-Cortez routs MCHS, 57-39
Montezuma-Cortez used a full-court press to force about 30 Moffat County High School turnovers, propelling the Panthers to a 57-39 win over the Bulldogs on Friday afternoon in the second round of the Palisade High School tournament.
The Panthers held a 10-9 lead after the first quarter and led 32-18 at halftime. Things didn’t get better for MCHS in the second half. At the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs trailed 47-23.
Zach Raftopoulos and Hodge Raftopoulos each had 9 points to lead the Bulldogs’ offensive attack.

The Moffat County High School boys varsity basketball team will play the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers at 3 p.m. today at Palisade High School in the second round of the Palisade Tournament.
The Bulldogs are 1-4 this season, most recently losing to 1-1 Rifle, 73-56, in the first round of the tournament.
The Panthers are 4-4.
The Bulldogs’ leading scorers on the year are seniors Dylon Camilletti and Angelo Raftopoulos, who each have 57 points.
Fellow senior Zach Raftopoulos boasts 46, while junior Colby Haddan has 45.
The team also will play against hosts Palisade, 2-5, on Saturday.

After two days of competition at the Colorado State High School Rodeo Association State Finals, riders and ropers from Moffat and Routt counties are making their way into the home stretch.
