Bulldog basketball to throw fundraiser

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Twelve-year-old basketballs.

Bent rims and backboards mounted in the original school construction year of 1982.

These are the conditions the Bulldog boys basketball team, coach Steve Maneotis said.

And he and the squad are out to change the outdated tools of the trade for the varsity team.

The Moffat County boys basketball team is out to raise money.

Most sports teams participate in several fundraising events each season.

Not the basketball team.

They are hosting a single event for this upcoming season, and the team is going all out.

“We are having a classic-style Greek dinner,” Maneotis said. “We will follow it up with a great act of comedy.”

The event will take place Nov. 18. The dinner is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. followed by comedian Greg Bennick at 6 p.m.

The prices are as follows:

$45, single adult – dinner and show

$80, adult couples – dinner and show

$120, family pack (two adults, two children) – dinner and show

$12, single adults – show only

$6, students – show only

Maneotis said the event is key to enable the team to make the necessary changes needed for this season, but it also allows the public a chance to meet the basketball team and to catch a view of their new uniforms.

“It is a great way to get the word out,” he said. “It lets the public know about Moffat County basketball.”
