Bryce Jacobson: New buildings popping up in Craig

Bryce Jacobson

As you drive down Victory Way from the east, you will see a couple of new buildings.

One is the future home of Steamboat Springs Transit.

Another is Abbey Carpet and Flooring, which is moving next door later this year. The new store is built, and the plan is to begin moving all the merchandise and setting it all up in the new location in the next couple of weeks.

I am able to move around in” the new store, Abbey owner Dennis Braia said. “We worked in a shoe box for 6.5 years.”

He went on to say that the new facility will have plenty of space for storage, and the customers will have a “nice, big environment” to shop in.

Downtown Craig ready for holidays

As I mentioned last week, the holiday shopping season is upon us, and Downtown Craig has more to offer than you may know about.

The Downtown retailers will host a Gingerbread House contest in early December. I know of at least one rule in this contest: All materials used to make the house must be edible.

Entry forms are available at The Kitchen Shop or KS Kreations. The deadline to turn in houses for judging is Dec. 5. Prizes will be given in several categories, and those prizes will be Craig Chamber of Commerce Spree Bucks, which can be spent right here in Downtown Craig.

The Downtown merchants also will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Santa and Mrs. Claus will appear from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alice Pleasant Park. Goodies and treats will be available at many downtown stores.

Less-mess dog grooming

Do you put off giving your dog a bath during the wintertime, because the mess inside is terrible and it is too cold to put them back outside? Well, listen up: Canine’s Unlimited has just the deal for you.

You and your dog can go to Canine’s Unlimited, where they will provide you with the tub, the brushes and the shampoo. And guess what? They will clean up the mess for you.

Owners Glenna Grandbouche and Amy Andrews also offer full-service dog grooming and dog training. The dog training can be done at your home, their store or in a group class setting.

For any of these services, you can set up an appointment by calling them at 824-6364 or visit them at 1592 W. Victory Way in Craig, or online at
