Briefs for Oct. 25, 2011: Last Frontier group to meet Saturday

The Preserving the Last Frontier organization will host its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the library on the second floor at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.

Gina Robison of the Bureau of Land Management will give a program on the interpretive drive over Duffy Mountain. The meeting is open to the public.

CNCC to host Halloween dance

Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Student Government is hosting the CNCC Halloween Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the west wing of the Craig campus, 2801 W. Ninth St.

The cost is $4 per person or $6 per couple. Refreshments will be served.

Trick-or-treating scheduled

Halloween trick-or-treating has been scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at downtown businesses, primarily in the 400 and 500 blocks of Yampa Avenue and on Victory Way, and Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way.

Downtown business present light show

Clint Gabbert and The Jungle Pet Shop present a light show through Halloween.

The show begins at dark and continues to 9 p.m. every night through Oct. 31 at the shop, 565 Yampa Ave.

Haunted house open through Halloween

American Legion Post 62 is hosting a haunted house for Halloween season at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way.

The haunted house is open from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Monday. The cost is $6.

Love INC hosts Community Coat Drive

Love in the Name of Christ is now distributing winter coats and is seeking donations to the Community Coat Drive.

Distributions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church of Grace, 657 Green St.

Anyone in need of a winter coat may pick up one for themselves and their children. The limit is one coat per person per year.

Donations of gently used coats, gloves and other accessories are accepted at Love INC, 656 School St., or Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave.

Craft sale spaces available

The second annual craft sale at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way, is scheduled for noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19.

The sale is for vendors of handmade items. The price of the booth space benefits the VFW’s youth programs.

Crabfest scheduled for Saturday

The Craig Chamber of Commerce’s ninth annual Crabfest is scheduled for Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Entertainment, including a comedian and a presentation by the Moffat County High School theater students, begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per person. Tables of eight are also available.

The Chamber is seeking donations for the event live and silent auctions.
