Briefs for Oct. 18, 2011: Library offers teen mp3 player drawing

In honor of Teen Read Week, the Craig branch of Moffat County Libraries, 570 Green St., is hosting teen game night and a drawing for an mp3 player and speaker set.

Teen Read Week began Sunday and continues through Saturday.

Teen game night is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the library.

Any teen between the ages of 13 and 18 can enter to win the mp3 player and speakers through Saturday.

Flower Mine hosts boxer, bras fundraiser

The Flower Mine & Gift Shop is hosting the second annual Boxers & Bras for a Cause, which calls for entrants to decorate a bra and/or pair of boxers in the contest to be voted on by the public.

The contest benefits the Moffat County Cancer Society, which assists local families affected by cancer.

The entry fee is $10. The deadline to enter bras and boxers is Oct. 28 at The Flower Mine, 410 W. Victory Way.

The public will vote on its favorite items by donation. The top three vote-getters will win prizes.

Quilt auction set for today

The Yampa Valley Quilt Guild will host its annual auction at 6:30 p.m. today at Hampton Inn & Suites, 377 Cedar Court.

The auction will include fabric, books, a quilting frame and gift certificates.

AARP to host driver safety course

AARP's driver safety course is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the second-floor activity room at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.

The cost is $12 for AARP members or $14 for non-AARP members. Take driver's licenses and AARP membership cards.

Sandrock school to host indoor garage sale

Sandrock Elementary School's School Advisory Committee will host an indoor garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the school's gymnasium, 201 E. Ninth St.

To rent a 10-foot square booth space, with one eight-foot table and two chairs, the cost is $20.
