Briefs for Nov. 3, 2011: Tea Party to host involvement meeting

The Bears Ears Tea Party Patriots will host a meeting about how residents can become involved and have their voices heard at 7 p.m. today at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.

Bob McConnell, an Independent; K.C. Hume, a Republican; and Brain Baxter, a Democrat, will speak.

Meeker youths to present Cinderella show

Center Stage will present Walt Disney's "Cinderella Kids" on Friday and Saturday in the Meeker High School auditorium, 550 School St., Meeker.

Performances are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The production involves more than 40 Meeker youths.

Tickets are $6 each or five for $25 and are available at the door.

Veterans offered free driving course

All veterans and their spouses are invited to a free AARP safe driving course from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way.

Middle school to host conferences

Craig Middle School will host parent/teacher conferences from 4:15 to 7:15 p.m. today and Nov. 10 at the school, 915 Yampa Ave.

The conferences are open-house style. Teachers are not available until 4:15 p.m.

Elks bingo to give out $1,900

The Elks Lodge, which hosts bingo at 6:15 p.m. on Fridays, will give out at least $1,900 during this week's games.

The doors open at 5 p.m. for the games, which are held at the lodge, 43 E. Victory Way.

American Legion bingo on Saturday

American Legion Post 62 will host bingo Saturday evening at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.

The doors open at 4:30 p.m., and games begin at 5:45 p.m.

Pregnancy Center hosts chili supper, auction

The Yampa Valley Pregnancy Center is scheduled to host its annual chili supper and silent auction at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.

The event costs $6 per person, $10 per couple, or $20 for a family of four plus $2 for each additional child. Tickets will be available at the door.

Free crochet lessons offered

Free crochet classes are scheduled through the end of the year, with a different project the focus each month.

Classes will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Nov. 18 and Dec. 2 and 16.
