Briefs for May 9, 2011: Middle school PAC to host meeting

The Craig Middle School Parent Advisory Committee will host its final meeting of the school year at 6:30 p.m. today in the CMS library, 915 Yampa Ave.

All parents of CMS students are encouraged to attend.

Humane Society meeting today

The Humane Society of Moffat County meeting will take place at 6 p.m. today at the Golden Cavvy, 538 Yampa Ave.

The meeting is open to the public and the group is looking for additional volunteers.

Craig Book Club to meet Thursday

The Craig Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 657 Green St.

Susie Begam-Violette will review Brad Thor’s novel, “The Last Patriot.”

USDA to distribute food supplements

The United States Department of Agriculture has scheduled food supplement distributions for later this month.

Food will be distributed from 9 to 11 a.m. May 17 at 595 Breeze St. at the northeast alley entrance, 9 to 9:30 a.m. May 18 at the Maybell Community Center and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 18 at the Moffat County office in Dinosaur.

Dance scheduled for May 21

A country dance is scheduled for May 21 at Lodore Hall in Browns Park.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and dancing starts at 7 p.m.

Admission is free, and dinner will be available.

The event includes cake walks, a cake drawing, a quilt auction and door prizes.
