AARP meeting set for Monday

Poetry contest celebration Monday

A poetry reading and awards program for the eighth-grade Carol Jacobson Memorial Poetry Contest takes place at 7 p.m. Monday at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave.



The event honors the Craig Middle School students who placed in the annual contest, which was judged by members of the Craig Poetry Society.

Hunter education class begins Monday

The Bears Ears Sportsman Club and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service will sponsor a hunter education class starting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Sportsman Club’s Cedar Mountain Range, 4.5 miles northwest of Craig on Moffat County Road 7.

The class lasts one week and costs $10.

All hunters born after Jan. 1, 1949 are required to take a hunter safety class to obtain a hunting license in Colorado.

Class size is limited, and pre-registration is recommended.

Shell open house set for Tuesday

An open house with Shell representatives is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Haven, 300 S. Shelton Lane, in Hayden.

Shell representatives will speak about the company’s exploration plans for Moffat and Routt counties.

Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

The event is free.
