Briefs for June 23: Museum hosts book signing today
The Museum of Northwest Colorado, 590 Yampa Ave., will host a book signing with author Marcia Hensley from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Hensley will sign her new work, “Staking Her Claim: Women Homesteading the West.”

Barn dance, barbecue fundraiser today
An annual barbecue and barn dance will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. today at The Haven Community Center, 300 S. Shelton Lane, in Hayden.
The event includes children’s activities, a live band, dancing and a beer garden.
Tickets cost $8 for students, $15 for adults, $25 for couples and $40 for families.
Children 5 and younger enter free.
A guided fly-fishing trip for one, a steel picnic table made by Babson-Carpenter Career and Technical Education Center students and other items and services will be offered during a silent auction.
Proceeds support The Haven, an assisted living facility, which offers adult activities and care programs, as well as wellness and aging services for local senior citizens.
Fuller Center yard sale today
The Moffat County Fuller Center For Housing will host a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the barn building east of Brass Key Realty, which is located at 840 W. Victory Way.
A variety of items will be available for sale.
Proceeds benefit the organization’s building fund campaign.
AARP meeting set for Monday
An AARP meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the recreation room at Sunset Meadows 1, 633 Ledford St. AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people 50 and older.

Community blood drive Tuesday
Bonfils Blood Center will host a community blood drive from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop, in Craig.
Walk-ins are welcome as space permits.
Free T-shirts and pizza will be provided for all participants.
Blood donors should allow about an hour to complete the donation process and should eat a full meal and drink plenty of water before giving blood.

CNCC hosting photo essay workshop Wednesday
Colorado Northwestern Community College will host “Documenting the American West,” a photo essay workshop, on Wednesday.
Participants meet at 10 a.m. at the CNCC Bell Tower Building, 50 College Dr.
Students should bring their own cameras, notebooks and microphones.
The event, offered through CNCC’s community education program, will feature documentary filmmaker Yuri Chicovsky.
Students will complete their own photo essays during the event.
The cost is $75 and includes lunch at a mountain cabin and transportation, but students also can drive on their own.
