Briefs for July 11: Sustainability Council meeting today

The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s monthly community meeting has been rescheduled for today.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sarvis Creek Room of the Routt County Courthouse, 522 Lincoln Ave., in Steamboat Springs.

Drought management workshop July 12

Colorado State University Extension will sponsor a drought management workshop for agricultural producers from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.



The event is open to all livestock producers and farmers in the county and will include information about U.S. Department of Agriculture designations and programs, management plans for herd reductions, and local fire evacuation emergency management plans.

Relay For Life team captain meetings

Relay For Life team captain meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday and July 18 in the conference room at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop.

T-shirt pickup and campsite assignments will be distributed at the July 18 meeting. All team captains are required to attend both meetings.

Relay For Life to honor survivors

Yampa Valley Relay For Life organizers invite cancer survivors and caregivers to the annual Relay July 20 at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.

Check-in takes place from 3 to 5 p.m.

All survivors will receive a T-shirt and gift for attending.

The event opens with a survivor’s lap at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner reception for cancer survivors and their caregivers.

“Being part of the survivor’s lap allows survivors to celebrate what they have overcome while inspiring and motivating their community to fight against cancer,” the organization reported in a news release.

Relay For Life continues through the night of July 20 and ends the morning of July 21.

Survivors and caregivers are asked to RSVP by July 13.

American Legion bingo slated for Saturday

American Legion Post 62 hosts bingo Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 5:45 p.m.
