Briefs for Dec. 7, 2011: Drop-in flu clinic takes place today

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering a drop-in flu clinic from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at its Craig office, 745 Russell St.
Flu shots and flu mist vaccinations for children cost $14. Adult flu shots cost $22 and adult flu mist vaccinations cost $25.
A variety of payment methods will be accepted.
Patients who pay for the vaccinations using commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid or CHP+ must bring their cards with them.
Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The drop-in clinic coincides with National Influenza Week, the VNA reported in a news release.

"This flu season, you should wash your hands, use your sleeve (not hands) when you sneeze or cough, disinfect objects and stay home when you're ill," the release stated.

Wellness Wednesday at The Journey set
Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, hosts Wellness Wednesday for older adults today at The Journey at First Baptist, 1150 W. Ninth St.
Arthritis foundation exercise takes place at 10:30 a.m., and lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and costs $3.
Live holiday music will be provided at noon.
Senior wellness and foot checks will be available, as well as Colorado Northwestern Community College classes. For more information, call 871-7676.

The next Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Business After-Hours Mixer is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at THPK Accounting, 555 Breeze St.
Book club set to meet Thursday
The Craig Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, 630 Green St.
Susie Begam-Violette will review "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford.
