Briefs for April 6, 2013: Food bank distribution scheduled for Tuesday
The Food Bank of the Rockies mobile food pantry will distribute food from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig. Food recipients should bring boxes or bags to carry their food.
Bullying prevention workshop set for May
A bullying prevention workshop is from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 9 at The Steamboat Grand in Steamboat Springs. The free presentation for school staff members and officials will cover topics including bullying prevention legislation, best practices, interventions, creating a positive school climate and cyberbullying. Guest speaker Dorothy L. Espelage, Ph.D., is a professor of child development and an associate chairwoman in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She also is the co-editor of “Handbook of Bullying in Schools: An International Perspective.” Registration is at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event, and a continental breakfast and lunch are provided. Plans are being made to celebrate the 35th reunion of Moffat County High School’s Class of 1978. The reunion will take place June 14 and 15. Softball kick-off meeting slated for Wednesday
The annual season kick-off meeting for Craig adult softball is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sandrock Elementary School. Team captains are encouraged to attend and sign up their teams.
New teams always are welcome, and players must be at least 14 years old. The meeting also serves as an opportunity for players to hook up with existing teams.

A male in his mid-to-late 60s died Thursday evening after his side-by-side slid off the road on Timberlane Drive on Black Mountain near Wilderness Ranch, according to Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chip McIntyre.
