Medicare counseling consultations available in Craig

Betsy Packer, a trained Medicare State Health Insurance Assistance Program counselor, will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of every month for consultations in room 106 of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Bell Tower Building, 50 College Drive.

Packer, who is trained in all aspects of Medicare and Medicare fraud, is available for individual appointments, to speak with Moffat County businesses, to counsel new Medicare recipients and to review Part D during open enrollment, which lasts through Dec. 7.



The consultations are free and confidential.

A Medicare 101 class is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. May 1 at the Bell Tower Building.



SHIP, a national program that offers one-on-one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families, does not sell or endorse health plans.

Variety Show set for Friday night

The monthly Variety Show, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 at 419 E. Victory Way, could include special guests such as California Bill, Nashville Ray, Blues-Boy Brian, Memphis Stevie G, Indiana John, Bronx Bob and Two Original.

Organizers promoted the show as “a friendly, patriotic atmosphere,” and invited the community to “experience the best of Moffat County’s All-American musical talent.”

Admission is free.

Seedling tree orders being accepted

The Colorado First Conservation District is taking orders for seedling trees.

The trees will arrive the first week of May and the average cost of each tree is less than $1.

A variety of trees and shrubs are available to create windbreaks and living snow fences and to enhance wildlife.

Residents must own at least two acres of land to purchase trees. Trees are limited and residents are encouraged to order early.

Order forms are available at the Bureau of Land Management office or the U.S. Department of Agriculture/district office at 145 Commerce St. For more information, call 824-3476, extension 101.

Chamber mixer set for Thursday at Tin Cup Grill

The next Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Business After-Hours Mixer is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Tin Cup Grill, 2179 Colorado Highway 394.

The event is also hosted by Mountain Meat and Sausage and is free to the public.
