Brief: Rankin earns NRA endorsement

The National Rifle Association announced this week its endorsement of Bob Rankin for Colorado House District 57.

Rankin, R-Carbondale, is running against Craig Democrat Jo Ann Baxter.

Rankin received an AQ rating from the NRA.

An AQ rating is given to pro gun candidates who do not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

The NRA also announced this week its endorsement of Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., and Congressman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., for president and vice president, respectively.

“Today we live in an America that is getting harder to recognize every day, led by a president who mocks our values, belittles our faith, and is threatened by our freedom,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, after the announcement.

Rankin is scheduled to attend Saturday’s Friends of NRA dinner at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.
