Bob Grubb: Craig Farmers Market
To the Editor:
The seventh season of the Craig Farmers Market is about to begin. The hours will be 12 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and will start on Jun. 20 and end on Sept. 19. The location is Alice Pleasant Park on Yampa Ave., south of the Museum.
A Vendors and Musicians meeting will be held on Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave., in Craig. Interested individuals are asked to come, ask questions and select vendor sites. Some electric outlets are provided at the Park. cost per site is $50 for the season, $25 per month, and $10 per week.
In 2012, the Market had 22 vendors participate in making its operation a success. Bill Ronis, a local musician, participated as able. Along with local crafts, breads, pies and vegetables, we had burritos, salsas and salads personally prepared for lunches. Peaches and Olathe corn from Grand Junction and “The Boys” from Vermillion started bringing produce from the former Walker Ranch east of Browns Park. The Mennonite Ladies brought their tasty breads and pies along with a variety of canned pickles and relishes.
The Craig Farmers Market is encouraged by the Downtown Business Assoc. and governed by its participating vendors. Presently my wife, Diane, and I are its general coordinators.
As the United States honors the many individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial Day, multiple ceremonies in Moffat County will pay tribute as part of the holiday.
