Bill Johnston: ‘Needed the most’

To the editor:

This is to the citizens of Craig.

As I completed the gathering of signatures required to place my name on the upcoming City of Craig ballot for a city council seat, I began to question whether or not to turn in my completed petition.

I thought of my primary responsibilities at Tri-State and the time and effort it requires of me on a daily basis. I also looked at my current duty as the chief of the fire department. With the fire department’s current time requirements and the potential for two future projects, it is a must that I dedicate my time to these important endeavors. For this reason, I have decided not to turn in my petition to run for city council.

I enjoyed my 10 years of service on the city council and I am very proud of the work we accomplished as representatives of the citizens.

This decision was not taken lightly. I believe to serve my community well I must answer a friend’s question to me, “Bill, where are you needed the most?”

And at this time, I must concentrate on my current responsibilities to the citizens of Craig and the district I am employed to protect.

I would like to thank all that had signed my petition and those supporters that urged me to run for the upcoming election.

I will remain deeply involved in local and regional affairs and wish the best to all of the honorable candidates as the election proceeds.

Thank you.

Bill Johnston
