Bad immigration policies cost Americans

To the Editor:

The Denver Post and ethnic vote pandering Republicans are wrong in the case of illegal alien Jesus Apodaca. The Denver Post, President Bush and other Republicans claim it unfair for Rep. Tancredo to single out one illegal alien for deportation. Yet it was The Denver Post in collusion with the Mexican Consulate that did the singling out by attempting to make Jesus the poster child of illegal aliens. Even more galling is that this illegal alien wants scarce education funding shifted away from the children of American citizens to pay the college costs of illegal aliens.

Now The Denver Post says of Senator Campbell, who wants to give the Apodaca family legal status via a private bill, “Because of his Native American heritage, we’d say Campbell is eminently qualified to make that judgment.” Quite the contrary, as a native-born American it seems to me American Indians had a bad immigration policy that we should not follow.
