Attorney arrested on check fraud warrant

Legal troubles continue to mount for a local lawyer after she was arrested Sunday by Hayden Police on a warrant from Park County.

Heather Turner, 44, of Hayden, was arrested without incident by Hayden Police on Sunday afternoon and booked into Routt County Jail, police said.

Turner was in court in Moffat County last month when her landlord tried to evict her. In June, a Routt County judge ordered her to pay $1,786 to a Steamboat Springs auto shop.

Authorities in Park County issued a warrant for Turner’s arrest Friday for a check fraud charge stemming from an October incident in Alma, said Park County Clerk of Courts Debbie McLimans.

Turner is charged with felony check fraud in connection with a bad check passed at a clothing store Oct. 14, McLim–ans said. The check bounced because the checking account was closed, the charge alleges.

Turner posted $2,000 bond and was released from jail Sunday.

Turner previously said she intended to run for district attorney in the next election, but earlier this month said she planned to surrender her law license.

Turner could not be reached for comment.
