America stood proud in face of terrorism

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the first tower was struck as probably do most people. My first thought was “This can’t be happening not here, not in America.”

But it did happen to us. We were attacked; viciously sucker-punched by a coward whose name I won’t bother giving ink to.

Terrorism in America! Death and tragedy to so many thousands of innocent people right here on our front doorstep.

I never thought it possible. A madman who wanted to break us did his act! To shatter our spirit as a nation. To throw us into chaos and watch us crumble away like sand in the wind. Silly boy, don’t’ you know who we are? We are the United States of America! The greatest nation on the planet!

And boy we sure proved it during this past year haven’t we? He wanted to break us, but instead he united us! He wanted to weaken us, but instead he strengthened us! I for one will never forget how we, as a nation, reacted to this coward’s ruthless attack on our country. I saw an ocean of American flags for as far as the eye could see in every direction. I saw total strangers coming together to offer their help anyway they could. Some helped rescue lives, others helped fight the fires, while others gave blood, or money, or time, or whatever they had to give. But everyone gave something.

America, you did yourself proud this past year! United we stand, now and forever more, from sea to shining sea! God truly does bless the United States of America.
