Alpine Bank team wins Ski Town Classic golf tournament
June 22, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Consistency turned out to be the key to winning the top flight of the 16th annual Ski Town USA Golf Classic.
After carding a 22-under par score of 122 on Friday at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club, the Alpine Bank team of Jeremy Behling, Tom Henninger, Geoff Coon and Glen Traylor found themselves just one shot back of the Black Tie Ski Rentals team — including Ian Prichard, Joe Sternberg, Rich Van Tine and Nick George — which carded a 121.
On Saturday at Catamount Ranch & Club, Alpine Bank was able to match its 122 and win the tournament's top flight by five strokes over the team of Scott Stanford, Jim Miller, Devon Meeks and John Sherrill.
The Ski Town Classic is played throughout two days. Foursomes are flighted according to total handicap and teams record two scores on each hole: low gross and low net. No one was able to match the 44 under par score of 244 carded by the Alpine Bank team.
"We played really consistently both days," Behling said. "That's what you have to do. We had a great team. Most of all, it's great to be able to support a community event like this."
