Accident claims life of Meeker man
Meeker — A Meeker man was killed Monday when a ditch caved in on top of him while he was installing plumbing.
Clint L. Blincoe, 28, died when one side of a ditch collapsed on top of him. A preliminary autopsy report listed the cause of death as asphyxia.
The man was working for Carrol Plumbing on a project on the corner of Sixth and Water streets in Meeker.
According to Si Woodruff, Meeker chief of police, members of the Meeker Fire Department had Blincoe out of the ditch within eight minutes of the accident report.
Police kept the scene contained until officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Denver could investigate.
The Steamboat Springs City Council voted, 4-3, to ban disposable plastic bags at Steamboat’s largest grocery stores.
