Residents of Craig and Moffat County will have a chance to experience history live and in person starting President’s Day with a visit from one of the most noteworthy leaders the United States has ever had.

Courtesy of Colorado Northwestern Community College, Abraham Lincoln presenter John Voehl will offer a series of educational performances Monday and Tuesday. Voehl will be in character as Honest Abe for several different shows, all of which are free to attend.

The first show at 7 p.m. Monday in the Moffat County High School auditorium is “Lincoln’s Happiest Day” and features the 16th president and his wife Mary Todd — as portrayed by Voehl’s own spouse, Pamela — reflecting on the events of his time in the White House before the fateful night at Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865. A question-and-answer session will follow.

At 1 p.m. Tuesday in the CNCC Media Center is “The Gettysburg Address and the Rest of the Story,” telling the intricacies of the famed speech Lincoln gave in the midst of the Civil War.

Finally, Mr. Lincoln will visit the children of the Boys & Girls Club of Craig at 4 p.m. Tuesday for a presentation geared toward younger learners.

Everyone is welcome at each of the events. For more information, call 970-824-1120.
