STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — For the second time in less than a year, a Steamboat Springs marijuana store has been targeted by burglars.

The burglary at Billo was reported to police at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

On Monday, a window on the back of the building facing a parking lot in the Curve Plaza commercial center was covered with a piece of plywood. There is also a door at the back of the building with a security camera overhead.

Police were not releasing any information about the burglary.

“Detectives are actively working this investigation,” Commander Annette Dopplick said in an email.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 970-879-1144.

Billo is one of three marijuana stores in Steamboat. All of them are located on the west side of town.

Police are still searching for the man who burglarized the Golden Leaf store at 1755 Lincoln Ave. on Aug. 9.

No marijuana products were taken during that burglary, but a safe was stolen.

The safe contained an undisclosed amount of cash and miscellaneous paperwork.

There was video surveillance footage of the Golden Leaf burglary that showed a man in a hooded shirt reaching through a broken window.

After initial information was released about the Golden Leaf burglary, a potential witness reached out to police.

A group of senior citizens who regularly walk together in the mornings encountered a man on the Yampa River Core Trail.

The man they saw was struggling to carry a heavy object that was thrown over his shoulder.

People can anonymously provide information about the burglaries by calling Crime Stoppers at 970-870-6226.

Tips can be sent by text message by texting NABM, followed by the tip, to 274637. A confirmation text will then be sent.
